One of her sons - Uzodinma Iweala, author of the 2005 novel Beast of No Nation - has said of his strict upbringing: "My mum is a very powerful woman. The adoption of this mission has led Prof. Kamene to read and study voraciously as well as travel. He was only 25 then. Two of Ngozis sons (Uzodinma and Uchechi Iweala) as well as her only daughter Onyinye Iweala are doctors like their dad. Prior to her appointment, she vowed to bridge the divide between the US and China on trade. Daddy was a passionate intellectual and prolific writer whose last book was published at the age of 90.
